Great News, Krita 2.3 has been released for Linux. This is a great Painting application! Here are a few sketches I've made lately. I also got featured with a few Artworks there!! This is awsome :)

I especially like the sketchbrush!! This gives some great results!

Hello everybody,

I've recently worked on that pirate girl as all of you may have noticed. I've now given her a name. It's Flick :)

So I decided to publish her under a creative commons license!

There are still some issues Denny Lindberg mentioned. I will correct them these days and update her. I will let you all know and provide a new version! Inbetween you can watch into this file and have fun with it!

Pirate Girl Turntable

Hey there,
maybe some of you remember my post some time ago. I started to create a Pirate Girl in Blender. So yeah, some time passed and I have touched this work again. I made some final tweaks on her design, and already craeted a new topology mesh. She has now about 6500 faces and baked normalmaps. Her Hair is not included yet. It is still sculpted. I don't know yet the best way to create some nice realtime hair. We will see.

Low Poly Head Texturetest

Hey there..

I've tried to texture a lowpoly model I modeled once. For texturing I used the uv projection method in blender! This is a great feature to texture models with photos of real persons.

Afterwards I created a nice sss(subsurface scattering) shading! I really like the result. Sort of Dreamworks Style.. :)

Ok, I've started with the colors! I have to say it is pretty hard for me to colorize the image when before working in grey-scales. I don't know why.. but somehow I am not that practiced with this workflow...

So here is the version I am working on right now. Still some work to do, but I like the direction this is heading.

There need to be more details and stuff lying around..

Hey there,

I've started to paint a new Artwork. Here is some WIP that I want to share with you.

The sketching is done, at the moment I am working on the greyscale values.

Still a lot of work to do. When the greyscales are finished I start with the color!

So.. more will follow :)

About the Picture.

You know the feeling, when finishing a great piece of work/artwork what ever. The moment you finish it and you can say, you did it. You can look at your work and hopefully be satisfied with it! :) This is what the picture is about.

Krita Speedpainting

I've discovered Krita a few weeks ago. This is an awsome open source painting application for linux.

At the moment I am working with 2.3 beta.

Here is a speedpainting I've recorded. In realtime I painted this one in about 45 minutes.

New Building Concept

Hey everybody,

maybe some of you can remember my last building concept. I was in the mood to paint a new one. This time I made a grid for the sketchingprocess. And it was really helpfull!!! Not so much perspective issues like in the last concept art. As you can see I've used an isometric view.

It is really fun to paint such concept. You can expect more to come :)

Perhaps I will create a 3d model out of one of those concept arts.

So I've created my own brush in ps. Very simple to set up, but gives great results.

Hey there,

just a quick landscape Speedy. Playing in Gimp, and trying to get used to it! At work I always work with Photoshop, and it is kind of hard for me to switch over to Gimp. Don't understand me wrong, Gimp is an awsome painting software. I hope Version 2.8 becomes a bit more userfriendly :D

I've put the assets I created together into one small testscene..

All obects and models except the ground are just linked into the scene. So Orbito can already navigate in that scene.

Hey there,

I've started to create assets. First I wanted to do some trees and plants. So here is the first asset. It is a tree in 3 varations. They are all based on the same model. Modeled and textured in Blender, except the leafs. I had some alpha issues in blender, so I used a paintingsoftware.

At the weekend I've started to rig and animate the character. So here is orbito with an idle and run animation.

Hi everyone!!

Long time no post!

I had someting in my mind a long time now. I would love to create a small nice game. Sort of jump and run.

Unfortunately I am no developer, so the only way I can do this is the Blender Game Engine.

I've already played alot with it, and the logic brick system is great! I think this will be a project I will work on in my spare time. I am very motivated, I hope this will stay this way. So, here is a Charakter I've modeled.

The complete model has about 2600 faces. All Shader you see in the image are working in realtime. So you can expect this to look the same in the bge. Orbito has 4 textures(1024x1024) at the moment. Normalmap, diffusmap, specularmap and aao map.

I hope you like him. Next step will be the rigging.

Blender Sculpting

Hey there,

I am part of the feedback team of Jason Wilkins Google Summer of Code Project. He is making a great improvement for the sculpting tools withing blender! And it is a real charm to work the actual tools!

So here is a test I've done using the Summer of Code Project from Jason. Something different compared to my usual work. I tried to be more realistic. No ref, and there for I think this was a successful test.

Anyone who wants to play with the sculpting improvements from Jason should check out graphicall.org and search for jwilkins builds.

Sculptris 1.01

Hi all,
Sculptris 1.01 is released yesterday. I am playing around with it! I have to say, it is much more awesome than Sculpris Alpha 3 ;-)
So.. here is a new sculpt done in Sculptris 1.01.
I think this will be one of my standart Sculpt programs. Blender sculpting is awesome! But, Sculptris is more awesome concerning sculpting.
I have to watch how to combine both programs. Sculpting in Sculptris, retopoing and baking in Blender. I think this could be a nice workflow!
When I've figured out the workflow, I'll let you know!

Hi there,

I've discovered a new awsome program. It is called sculptris! At the moment it is in alpha 3 phase! But it is alot of fun! What is so special about this program? When you sculpt you don't have to worry about topology of your sculpt. Sculptris has some dynamic mesh tesselation. So if you sculpt and need some more details in some areas, Sculptris just adds the details by itself. So you do not have to subdivide you mesh like in other sculpting apps. It is a very intuitive way to work! I love it for quick sketching and will definitely use it in the futur! I am excited about the final release!

so here is an update of my Pirate Concept. I've started modelling the Charakter in 3D.

First of all I've created some basemeshes and afterwards added the multires modifier and started sculpting on them. Done in Blender. I used a similar zbrush clay mat in Blender.

Hi Blogreaders!

Ok, I haven't posted quite some time. So here is an update. I've started with some concepting. I had an idea some time ago to create a nice pirate character model. My Idea was to create a more detailed 3D model. So here is now the first stage. Sketching a cool character! I am convinced this is a good direction I am heading to! I wanted to create a young beautifull red haired girl with freckles. Not that much experienced in being a pirate :D

But she is on here way. So Character Design is almost done. I think I will create some more concepts for her face, and some detailed sketches of her weapons! She will get a pistol and a saber!

When my concepts are finished and I have a clear direction of all items I think I will start with sculpting in Blender. I hope it will work out! And later I 'm gonna create the lowpoly model. Don't expect updates to quick! I have not that much spare near work and family.

Scirra - Construct

Hi there,

I've discovered an awsome program this week. It's called "Construct" and is an open source 2Dgame developer tool. Unfortunatly it is only windows.

So I played around and just testet a little bit, and I have to say it is a great tool. Easy to use, even for not-programmer like me! Everything is very logical! So here is my first little Game with it!

Still not that much interaction but I am learning with big steps!! :D

Ok, this is something older.

I've created this "Boar" last October. I've been on the Blendercourse in Amsterdam and learned some nice new technices in modelling. Played around a little bit with this model and gave him some nice Fur :)

I hope you like it. I think the anatomie is not very good, but it was just for fun modelling :)

time for something new. Here is another Sculpt I made in Blender. Afterwards I created a lopwoly Mesh and baked the normalmaps from the high poly onto the lowpoly Mesh.

I created some Textures directly in Blender. The rig is also almost done! So enjoy it :)

Hi everyone!

Ok, here is something new. A few days ago I've seen some really cool papercrafts! I was so impressed by that, so I've decided to create my own.

I've created a 3D Model in Blender and exportet the UV's. Added some nice Textures with Inkscape as vector graphics so it may me printable in large sizes.I hope you will like it! And here is also the file. You may do your own handycraft! :)

Blender 2.5 Sculpting

Hi there.

Ok, this is a little Testprojekt I am working on right now. I am testing the new sculpttool in Blender 2.5

I have to say, I really love this so far! The Speed increased alot. The Brushes are nice to use, especially the clay brush! This one is awsome. It feels very natural. Here and there are still some bugs. I had some crashes. But hey, it is still alpha 0.

First I've created a lowpoly Mesh, and then added the Multires and sculpted all the details. The Material that you see is just a simpel texture I've painted before in 2D and then just mapped via normal coordinates on my model. When the Retopo functions are back in Blender I will create a new topology and bake the high resolution information on the new model. Maybe I will create a game Model and rig it! We will see :)

So enough of talk. Here's the screen!

yep, I've seen Avatar last week! And yep, I love that movie. It was really great! From my artistic Point of view the Movie was awesome! Unfortunately I have not seen the movie in 3D. But I think I will catch this up in January.
So here is a fanartwork I've painted the last few days! It was really some fun and I think my style fits nice to the Charakterdesign of Avatar.

Hi there,

here is a new little Painting :)

It was quite some fun to paint this one! I've started with greyscales and added the Color afterwards. There for I've added a new layer with the Colormode "Color". Added quickly some colors and merged both layers and adjusted the colors. Painted about 2 - 2.5 hours.

So enjoy this piece.

just tried to create a cool Charakter based on clean Outlines. First I've sketched him with pencil on paper. On the Computer I worked with colored Outlines. I think this fits better together.

Hey Guys,
this is a fanart I've created for the Durian Project. Durian is a new Short Movie Projekt that will be completely done in Blender. The main Charakter will be a woman and a dragon. So this is my interpretation of it.
It was really fun to paint this! I tried a new painting technic. First of I painted everything in greyscales and added the color afterwards.

It is far away from perfect, but I hope you will like it. Also I want to publish the .blend File. You can use it, and learn from it. Create your own ShapeKeys if you would like to, or just create some nice Animations. You can use it for learning, but not for commercial works.
